Cleaner

JOB SUMMARY: Provides support to the center by maintaining a clean work environment to include terminally cleaning patient care areas and the surgical suites as well as general areas within the surgical center.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:      

The following tasks are to be completed daily. This is not a comprehensive list and other duties may be assigned.

  1. Removal of trash from the center.
  2. All sinks and countertops are cleaned/disinfected.
  3. All floors are mopped or cleaned with the scrubber.
  4. All business areas are cleaned.
  5. All bathrooms are cleaned/disinfected.
  6. Patient care areas (Pre-op, recovery, operating rooms) are cleaned/disinfected.
  7. High touch surfaces which include door handles, telephones, light switches are to be disinfected.

To be completed weekly:

  1. Carpeted areas are vacuumed.
  2. Locker room showers are cleaned.
  3. Clean all trash containers.

To be completed bi-weekly:

OR walls are cleaned, back storage room and supply closets cleaned.

To be completed monthly:

All air ceiling and wall air vents are cleaned.

To be completed every other month:

  1. All equipment and patient cart wheels are cleaned.
  2. All doors and door frames are cleaned.
  3. Restroom plumbing is cleaned.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: High school education and/or equivalent; up to one year of related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions.  Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to employees and managers of the organization.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
