Radiofrequency Vein Ablation - Varicose Veins Treatment

Varicose veins are abnormally swollen, twisted or painful veins that have filled with blood. They often stick out or are blue in color and typically occur in the legs. Radiofrequency Vein Ablation is one of the many methods to treat varicose veins.

THE PROCEDURE:

Ablation uses intense heat for varicose veins treatment. During these procedures, the surgeon will puncture the varicose vein and will thread a flexible tube (catheter) through the vein up to your groin. The catheter will then send intense heat to the vein. The heat will close off and destroy the vein. The vein will disappear over time.

AFTER THE PROCEDURE:

To control swelling and bleeding, your legs will be wrapped with bandages for two days after varicose veins treatment. You should be able to start normal activities within two days after the procedure. You will need to wear compression stockings during the first day for one week after treatment. Ablation reduces pain and improves the appearance of the leg, usually causing very little scarring, bruising or swelling. Wearing compression stockings will help prevent the problem from returning.
