Surgical Technologist – Full Time

Job Summary

As a Surgical Technologist, you will be responsible for anticipating the needs of the surgical team and establishing and maintaining a sterile field during procedures in the operating room. Your role will also encompass sterile processing duties for reusable medical equipment, ensuring all instruments are properly cleaned and sterilized. Additionally, you will contribute to creating a positive work environment.

Job Type: Full Time

Pay: $25 – $32 per hour

Expected hours: 30 – 32 hours/week

Essential Job Functions

  • Ensures sterility of supplies and instruments during surgical procedures.
  • Assists the circulating nurse and surgical team in maintaining a sterile environment.
  • Gathers necessary surgical supplies and equipment and conducts sponge, needle, and instrument counts with the circulating nurse pre- and intra-operatively.
  • Gowns and gloves surgeons and assistants.
  • Maintains accurate physician preference cards.
  • Manages specimens for pathology.
  • Assists the surgeon with the application of sterile dressings.
  • Transports surgical equipment for cleaning and is responsible for cleaning and reprocessing instrument sets.
  • Interacts effectively with all patients and others, regardless of age or ethnic background.
  • Follows Standard Universal Precautions to ensure personal safety and a safe environment of care.
  • Participates in environmental hazard and infection control surveillance and emergency preparedness drills.
  • Adheres to equipment safety guidelines and reviews relevant policies periodically.

Job Qualifications

  • Completion of a Surgical Technologist (CST) program and certification is preferred but not required.
  • One year of experience as a Surgical Technologist is preferred but not required.
  • Current CPR Certification is required.
